Will someone please explain to me why we insist on complicating everything. This seems pretty simple to me. I don't know much about theology but when I read the bible, the instructions are fairly straightforward. Am I wrong?

1 Thessalonians 5:14-22
And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.
See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.
Rejoice always,
pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Do not quench the Spirit.
Do not despise prophecies,
but test everything; hold fast what is good.
Abstain from every form of evil.

  1. You're absolutely right - it's not rocket science! God, through His Holy Spirit makes understanding available to all believers. Unbelievers, however can't understand anything but the Gospel as they don't have the Holy Spirit to enlighten them. Scripture even says that God chose the "foolish" things in order to confound the wise. So all we need to do is read it, believe it and LIVE it!

  2. I guess human complicate things because we often think we are wiser than the Lord.
