Believe it or not, this is an example of God's kindness. If he allowed Adam the possibility of eating from the tree of life as well as the tree of wisdom, Adam would live in the misery of the world for eternity. I can't think of a worse fate.

Genesis 3:22-23
Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—”
therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.

      I never thought about it before either until my Community Bible Study class on this chapter of Genesis. I love the bible, it brings so many people together and to Christ.
