There was a time when I thought talk of the devil was silliness. Until I found him going to and fro. He caught me unawares but God rescued me. Now when Satan is walking back and forth, I resist him and he flees from me. See James 4:7

Job 1:6-7
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. 
And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” 
So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”

    The devil is in a lot of places we discount for illogical human arguments. We as Christians are often not as spiritual as we think. even when we are reading our Bibles. But God promises His Word will not return void.
