Good idea.

Proverbs 30:32
If you have been foolish in exalting yourself,
Or if you have devised evil, put your hand on your mouth.

Lies are everywhere. Start by finding the truth and then spread it around.

Revelation 12:9
So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

These are the requirements. Are we up to them? Of course we are, He is walking with us.

Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?

There are very few things we can count on in life. But God keeps his promises. Count on it.

Revelation 7:16-17
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
the sun shall not strike them,
nor any scorching heat.
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

OK when was the last time you heard a quote from Obadiah? If you are flying high without God, you are not going to like this. It's that pesky pride thing.

Obadiah 1:3-4
The pride of your heart has deceived you,
You who dwell in the clefts of the rock,
Whose habitation is high;
You who say in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’
Though you ascend as high as the eagle,
And though you set your nest among the stars,
From there I will bring you down,” says the Lord.

I am usually my own persecutor and I make my own prisons. If I can be so damaging to myself I NEED God's refuge. It is a little better than it used to be, certainly He has dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 142:5-7
I cry to you, O Lord;
I say, “You are my refuge,
my portion in the land of the living.”
Attend to my cry,
for I am brought very low!
Deliver me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me!
Bring me out of prison,
that I may give thanks to your name!
The righteous will surround me,
for you will deal bountifully with me.

Overcome with anxiety about that long to-do list for Christmas? Here's a prayer just for you.

Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

Do you think there is only one way to do things? There is, it is God's way. Save some time and agony, don't try to do it your way.

Hosea 10:12-13
Sow for yourselves righteousness;
Reap in mercy;
Break up your fallow ground,
For it is time to seek the Lord,
Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.

You have plowed wickedness;
You have reaped iniquity.
You have eaten the fruit of lies,
Because you trusted in your own way,
In the multitude of your mighty men.

We think we conduct our secret lives in secret. We don't.

Psalm 139:7-10
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.

If we don't want the wide world to look at us and say in disgust "hypocrites" we might want to pay attention to this.

1 John 4:20-21
If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

So simple. So challenging.

1 John 3:18
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

I tell you it is amazing how this whole thing holds together. Here it is again, an Old Testament prophet predicting the coming of Christ.

Daniel 7:13-14
“I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.
Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.

Hey, I found a letter to all of us in today's Bible reading.

Daniel 6:25-27
Then King Darius wrote:To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth:
Peace be multiplied to you.
I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel.
For He is the living God,
And steadfast forever;
His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed,
And His dominion shall endure to the end.
He delivers and rescues,
And He works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
