Another promise God keeps. Trust this. And as my friend Jerry says, even if you don't think you are doing well, the Holy Spirit will give your listeners a supernatural gift of hearing.

Luke 12:11-12

“Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities,
do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say.

For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.

  1. I am not fully "bible-literate," but this is one of the passages that I first connected with. As a matter of fact, it seems to be directly-applicable to people like me, who are "not (yet) fully 'bible-literate'".

God seems to be saying that a person should not be intimidated by those who, armed with every historical fact, seek to challenge or debate matters of faith. Knowing/having the spirit is sufficient for any such conversation.

The literal message (i.e., "the Holy Spirit will guide you in what to say"), it's important, of course. But, there is another implication that I take from it as well: that "faith" is not something that can be challenged by factual argumentation; and its power lies not in its specific formulations or in using it to win arguments—but by living it with confidence.
