Just before I was married I heard a biblical genealogy read at length in church. I found myself crying uncontrollably. Maybe I felt through marrying I was losing my identity. I suspect it was God telling me that I am a link in a very long chain. The chain will always be unbroken and my little life is both vital and unimportant.

1 Chronicles 1:1-4
Adam, Seth, Enosh;
Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared;
Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech;
Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth....

  1. Well, I can prove to you, as can many, that the "version" of the KJBible you are reading is not the Word of God. It has been so changed from the KJBIBLE so much to be copywriter as a "completely new work". Meaning that it is no longer God's Word. The KJBIBLE is a translation and was never a "version" and only called a "version" after the first version of God's Word was made. May you'll be happy then with a "version" of Christianity. If the KJB cannot be understood, then the reader is NOT a true Christian and God's Word is jibberish foolishness.

  2. And Jesus was angered by people who were arguing abt genealogies which is like arguing abt Bible versions. Not the point.

  5. The Lord would not call any believer, "unimportant". The Lord is like a gentlemen's gentleman. The Church is the body of Christ. There are parts of the body you can live without, but you would still miss them to have an optimal functioning body. Think of loved ones that have passed-on; you still miss them. Often, we, being fallible humans, greatly underestimate the Lord's infinite, enduring love, including his grace and forgiveness. Like most people, I also struggle with thoughts of my life not having any real significance. But, this is not God talking to us. He has a plan, a purpose, and a future for each of us.

  6. Brit! Mr.Elston missed the point entirely. He seems to have knowledge of the fact that the KJV of the Bible was not the original, but we only have parts of what we believe to be the original manuscripts at the Vadican archives in Rome. We don't have digital recordings of Jesus's voice nor the voices of the Old Testament Prophets speaking; therefore, we must take the words of the Bible by faith & apply them to our lives. You are a child of God & part of an unbroken chain;so, be happy & celebrate your wonderful life & family! You are an inspiration to others by your example!
