They almost missed him (Saul aka Paul) because he was such an unlikely believer. Barnabas was a Christian. He knew to take in Paul. If you are a Christian, have faith and an open mind. The most unlikely guy could help save the world.

Acts 9:26-28
And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple.

But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
So he was with them at Jerusalem, coming in and going out.

  4. Barnabas was a practitioner of Christ 2nd command.... Love your neighbor as yourself! The Holy Spirit in his grace gave Barnabas the wisdom to welcome and accept Paul the persecutor as one of them. The Holy Spirit imbued Paul with God's grace to accept Jesus as the way the light and the truth. Both accepted Christ's invitation to follow him and the world has changed through their actions!
