Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.
And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.
John chapter nine is one of my favorites. Back in 1980 I heard one of he greatest sermons I have ever heard. The pastor/teacher took us through the entire chapter in less than an hour. It was so great. I still remember it. #openingeyes
ReplyDeleteI find John deliciously challenging. It never fails my intellectual curiosity.

A Very thought provoking post, and a great choice from scripture.
ReplyDeleteWhen people ponder God revealing Himself they generally think about Him doing so through scripture or perhaps a more metaphysical event. It's probably the same when they consider miracles...
God is definitely active in the world, both in response to our prayer as well as in the deliberate advancement of His salvific plan. What people sometimes miss is that, at times, he chooses to act through individuals; the Holy Spirit impelling us into action. This can be a blessed moment for those giving of themselves, especially if they recognize that, in that instant, they are serving as a conduit for divine love. And, sometimes, for those who receive these graces that moment can be just as miraculous as biblical events.
Among my daily prayer intentions, I ask the Lord to use me as His instrument; to let me be a blessing to others, just as He brings people into my life who are a blessing to me. I think that through service to others, and by actually living our faith on a daily basis, especially if the path we came to Jesus by is extraordinary or counterintuitive, we can fulfill our role in expanding the kingdom and inspire others to open their hearts to Him.
My regards
Dear Bob,
DeleteWow, what a remarkable comment. I'm sure you noticed the Holy Spirit is at work here. This is very clearly explained and enlightening. What a service to Vine and Branch followers! A lovely pebble in the pond.

It always amazes me how so many do not see the work of His hand. Even in the most difficult of times, He shows himself is such simple ways. And maybe that is the problem, people are looking for the lightening to strike. I find that for me, it is in the quiet that He shows me what I need to see. Thank you for this reminder.

I think you are right, it doesn't take lightening to strike. It often is a nudge from a small still voice.
