I would be scared to death if there were a lion stalking me, roaring, ready to pounce! "Resist him." Are you kidding? Apparently Peter is not kidding. "Resist him, firm in your faith." Then the promise for suffering a little: God himself will restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you. OK, I'm game.

1 Peter 5:8-11

Be sober-minded; be watchful.
Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

  1. Lions attack weak, young, or lagging animals. They choose victims that are on the very edge of the group, alone, without defense. As in real life, the first thing taught is to not flee or attempt to outrun the bullies. Stand firm, look brave and stare into the culprits eyes. The beast will back down! Always have your metal ready by being steadfast in the faith of Christ. @larrygrowe
