Make a point not to lie for a couple of days. It's not impossible, but you'll notice how often you're tempted.

Psalm 119:162-163

I rejoice at Your word
As one who finds great treasure.
I hate and abhor lying,
But I love Your law.

  1. And isn't it true that so many of those "little lies" are indulged in to (presumably) make ourselves or others feel better? And of course issues of omission and comission enter here, too.

I'm laughing now, remembering a book from my youth whose title was, "Where Did You Go? Out. What Did You Do? Nothing." Uh-huh. ;)

  2. Evil is stealth beginning with lying! Character breakdown is 10 commandments broken in reverse order, falling like dominoes! Covet (desire) leads to false witness, to stealing, to adultery, to murder. Science gauged evil of serial killers by their stealth capacity to lie. White lies grow to lying with a straight face, to the passing lie detector tests, to brutality, to torture. Yet, stealth for 40 years from families. @larrygrowe
