This prayer seems as relevant today as it was when the Psalms were written. What is with us humans? You'd think over time we would get better. I guess it is a consequence of a fallen world.

Psalm 80:3-6
Restore us, O God;
let your face shine, that we may be saved!
O Lord God of hosts,
how long will you be angry with your people's prayers?
You have fed them with the bread of tears
and given them tears to drink in full measure.
You make us an object of contention for our neighbors,
and our enemies laugh among themselves.

  2. Kim Having read the Bible 3 times , what are your favorite passages? Were there things you couldn't grasp even though you read them over and over and prayed about them? Did you read some things and say Lord I have a hard time believing that? Did you find things that seemed like contradictions to you? Are there things in the Bible that preachers never preach about? Maybe like Hebrews 11 -the last half- where people don't get what they prayed for but the Lord counts it as faith anyway. What is your view of God after 3 readings? And I believe that you are doing a very good thing spreading God's word BUT is anyone listening especially in DC ? I wonder about the same thing here in LA where I live. God is all but forgotten here. My name is Dave a Christian from LA God Bless you Kim.

    1. Dave,
      Thank you for your interest and your questions. I have come to understand that God speaks to me through the bible. I read one thing one day and get nothing from it, then I read it a year later and have a life changing insight. I don't look at reading the bible as a chore or a discipline, I look it as an opportunity to listen to what God is saying. I started this blog with no sense at all of who might find it or read it. I just assume that if one person finds it and finds any sort of clarity from it that the Lord's work is being done. I'm just trying to be obedient and trying (not always succeeding) to stay out of the way.

  3. That is awesome, Kim. I commend you for reading the Bible thru 3 times. Not having grown up in the Church, I've found it VERY DIFFICULT to read the O.T. as I don't know and/or can't connect the incidents and people. KEEP READING!

    1. Dear Anonymous,
      I was lucky to study Genesis in my first 'official' Community Bible Study class. It taught me how to study and it really connected the different parts of the bible for me. I would highly recommend bible study with others. I do both my own study and group study. I find both make my life so much richer. Google Community Bible Study, there are many CBS groups around the country and internationally. It is non-denominational and benefits all levels of bible knowledge. Here's a link. http://www.communitybiblestudy.org/classes_and_courses.aspx
      Love,
      Kim
