My husband loves me and shows it. I respect him and I show it. It's a start and it's been working for 20 years.

Ephesians 5:31-33

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.

However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

  1. I'm happy for you Mrs. Hume, God bless you and bless your marriage, my advice to you is, if you are religious, good for you, for your soul, for your family, but talking too much about religion is a boring subject, my best friend is like you and her husband is a preacher, all she talks about is religion, I don't want to talk to her any more, because she will open the religion subject, and start preaching me.

    2. How dare you use your blog to express your point of view! The original comment above would be funny, if it wasn't so lacking in sense. Even more, in a society filled with unhappy marriages (like the one in the news in which a new bride allegedly pushed her new husband over a cliff), a testimony of a healthy 20 year marriage should be more than interesting - it should be fascinating. When deeply secular marriages fail routinely, while deeply biblical marriages succeed routinely, is a statement on religious conviction in marriage irrelevant or unwwanted? Hardly. It is hyper-relevant and welcome. "The foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength."

    3. Dear First Anonymous, I guarantee you do not need to be religious to read the bible and to find wisdom there. Christians often 'push.' They have a simple reason for that, they want you to have the joy and peace they have. Your friend may have turned you off, but don't despair, and try to forgive her. Open the bible to the Psalms and just read and relax. It is enough.

  2. I'm jealous. I hope it is what you say it is with your relationship to Brit. He comes across as a good guy. Marriage should not be taken lightly. Congress made it easy to get away from rather than stick it out. Thank God you folks have each other.
