This is so true in my life. The bible is at work in me. It has gotten under my skin. That happened when I started seeing it as the word of God and not a bunch of myths and allegories.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
I am reading Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the inner shift you describe here, he also experienced or made as a young man. He wrote that taking the Word of God as such and knowing/believing that it works in our lives and has a life of its own, had absolutely revolutionized his life - though I probably use more emotional language than he did. Thank you for sharing your love of God with us.
Thank you for your comment. I was changed by the Bonhoeffer book. I'm so glad you reminded me that he went through that shift. That is exactly what I'm trying to share in this blog, the daily effect that the Holy Spirit has on me when I read the bible. People say they wish God would just speak to them. I think He does speak to us through our reading the Word and the immediate thoughts and reactions we have to it THAT DAY. Thanks again, Kim
Well you are succeeding at communicating how real God is and how much He wants to work in us. I am now reading Life Together by Bonhoeffer - so so rich and wonderful. Thank you again for your boldness and love for God. So refreshing!
Thank you, Kim. I was meant to find your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the encouragement. Kim
