I try not to bring politics to these posts, but doesn't this appear to be a perspective on preemptive war and strong national security policies? Sometimes ancient wisdom is most current.

Psalm 21:8-12
Your hand will find out all your enemies;
your right hand will find out those who hate you.
You will make them as a blazing oven when
 you appear.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
and fire will consume them.
You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
and their offspring from among the children of man.
Though they plan evil against you,
though they devise mischief, they will not succeed.
For you will put them to flight;
you will aim at their faces with your bows.

  1. Thank you, Kim. Here's what I think: Under the old covenant the Israelites were a political grouping, as well as the initial people of God (and ancestors of the new people of God). Under the new covenant established by Our Lord, Jesus Christ, the people of God is not political; it is ecclesiastical. The people of God do not participate in military endeavors as an ecclesiastical group. (This is one reason the atheists don't have to be concerned about the rising of a theocracy. Anyone who pretends to be a theocracy will not stand the test of time.)

    1. Clarification regarding the crusades: We don't do that kind of thing any more. It's a thing of the past. Long story.

  2. Christianity is a civilization as well as a religion. Politics is the public debate over the future of our civilization, Christian values debating crowd ideologies and sentiments. Ideologies start wars and values end them. Politics is PUBLIC, that includes God, Christ, bible, and Religion. @larrygrowe

    1. Larry, I disagree. Christianity is not a religion. The world attempts to classify it that way so it can be put into a "box" with other religions. Religion is man's best effort to reach God, while Christianity is God's best effort to reach man...major difference.

  3. I cry when I see pictures of such young people with such hate in their faces; or is it fear. Fear of the adults that teach them to hate. God protect the children from adult hate and ignorance.
